I am planning to restock my tank. I will only be keeping 4 (2 month old) Yellow tails.

My Idea:
5 - Yellow tails
5 - White top hara
5 - Another species, I need some ideas. (Possible Yellow labs or Gold Sexfasciatus, if I can find some fry localy)

What ideas do you guys have for tank mates with the Yellow tails? This is all in a 55 gallon tank.

No tank mate ideas?

What is a yellow tail, P. elegans 'luwala/msuli'??
Scientific names will help in getting better responses.

I am talking about the Pseudotropheus acei.

I personally, wish that I had gone with fish from a single reef when I originally set up my tank. With that in mind, I'd stock it with 12-15 individuals of two species; the Pseudotropheus elegans (yellowtailed acei, like you wanted) and Metriaclima callainos, both of which come from Luwala Reef.
If you want more of a peaceful tank, you could stock Labidochromis caeruleus, Pseudotropheus elegans, and Iodotropheus sprengerae. All three species are generally more docile, as far as mbuna temperament goes.

I like the idea of Iodotropheus sprengerae (rusty cichlid.) Is there anything I should be aware of for this species, such as hybrids?

I keep rustys with acei never had them breed togather. Acei are actaully top swimmers and grow much larger then the rustys there really never even near each other. My advice on getting rustys is pick carfully a lot of the rustys in lfs don't color up at all and are really bland. Yellow labs would go well with this mix as well all very mild mannered. I was actaully lucky enough to pick up some wild caught rusty the other day ill post picks when I get a chance.

I would not keep peacocks or any kinda of hap with mbuna mbuna should really only be kept with other mbuna. I myself had had some success with neon jewels in my mbuna tank in fact the 4 I had actauly made two pairs and both pairs have produced.

I'm not an expert but just set up an mbuna tank and did a lot of research prior.
