I live no where near Utica.

You could add some of these cichlids considering they are smaller: Firemouth, Jewel cichlid, Rainbow cichlid, Some of the Smaller Acaras like blue acara or yellow acara, Salvini, festivum, Sajica, Keyhole etc
Maybe like any three of these in addition to your Convict.

If its a male JD no, if its a female JD yes.
Remember that a 55 is only 12 iches front to back so you want fish that will be able to turn without problems. JD's are iffy especially with other fish cuz they can be viscious

You probably could add another smaller cichlid with these choices anyway. For a bottom dweller, make sure its not too large. Like 4-8 inch range is what you should aim for.
