alright one of my friends is setting up a 55 gallon, he doesnt have internet so here i am doing it for him, he wants to set up an african malawi mbuna setup, he prefers numbers over size, so the question, what kind of stocking for a 55 that features high numbers of smaller mbuna, i just kinda need species ball park, and male to female ratio, thankyou guys

how many do you think would be practical, is there any other options for variety like those and one other species, i like that the females are pretty too

I think you can do more than 2m and 8f. Maybe 2m and 10-15 females. There is a guy local who has a huge colony with 2 males and 15 females in a 60(same foot print as a 55, just wider). These guys can get aggressive.

I couldn't even tell you how many I have in my 55. I think somewhere in the neighborhood of 25. They are growing out well and are breeding. They are temporarily sharing the pace with some Vic Fry.

saulosi's are a great idea-i love those little guys! very colorful and great personalities.
