i'm thinking i'm gonna go along with the african tank. i've seen so many small, pretty africans at all of my LFSs. but a few questions for anyone who might be able to answer them: they're all just labeled "assorted african cichlid" or whatever. most of the ones i like are tiny [less than an inch], such as these little bright yellow ones i really like [lol, descriptive!]. will these little ones likely stay this size or do they get big? i don't have experience with africans, so i'm really not sure. also, if they do stay this small, can i stay [very, VERY conservatively] within the inch-per-gallon rule, if they're all around an inch? [obviously this isn't true for larger fish]. i.e., perhaps 20? 30?

most african cichlids under assorted africans grow to about 6 inches and if the yellow ones hav a black stripe on their dorsal fin then they are a yellow lab (Labidochromis caeruleus) and the one inch per gallon rule usually works by the length plus the height plus the thickness so a 4 inch long fish that is 2 inches high and 1/4 inch long needs bout 6 gallons

:] yeah i know how that works lol. like i said, it's not direct for larger fish. no, they don't have a stripe, they are just very very small and solid bright yellow. so none of them really stay that small? because i see a WHOLE LOT that are maybe around 1/2 inch or so. like i said, i don't have experience with africans though, so i don't know any of this
