Ok I have a 55g tank with a pair of Pink cons. Their tank mates are a pair of L104's, and a few Oto's. There are also Ramshorn snails and MTS.

I was wondering what other type of cichlid I could add to the tank that would go with the Cons? They are still fairly young. Male is about 2.5" and female is about 2".

you could add a pictus catfish but he will eat the fry.....as far as cichlids go..i dont know cause these cons will be mean as hell towards any other cichlid

Depends on if you want fry? If you're unsure what you want to add I recommend going to a few of your local fish/pet stores. Bring something to write down what you like and then come here and ask about compatibility and experiences.

Yeah...once they formed a pair, nothing will be safe in the same tank with these convicts.

I have a slight fascination with Cryptoheros Cutteri. They are a gorgeous fish.

Mmm, that might be a bit of a problem.

Cryptoheros Cutteri look similar to A.nigrofaciatus, so there could be a few problems later down the track.

I would suggest if you like the look of convicts, but don't want a blood bath, get rid of the female convict, and only keep the male.

CA communitys, big or small, ussually work with only males, since there is no competition for breeding space and females. It does take time to get a good combo going, as some fish just have a scrapy presonality.

What size of tank do you have? Once we know this I can give you a list of male cichlids you could add in with your male convict. But, if you want to keep your pair, than you can have no tankmates with them...

May I suggest some giant danios? When they pair up they will cause havoc for other cichlids in that tank and with some dithers in there you will see a more unique brood behavior plus they wont be able to catch the danios, and they are not as aggressive towards dithers.

Best idea, don't breed the cons, unless they're something special like wild caught or something. In that size tank you could probably keep a few males together with no females.

I cant ever keep any fish with a breeding pair of cons they will attack 24/7 until everyone is stressed beyond belief.I had in the past 3 males in one tank and they got along great.
