- the tank has been up and running for about 4 months

- I call it a noob reef because I'm still learning daily. I see some amazing reef tanks and mine is still just starting out. I am just starting to dose with B-Ionic additives and test for all extended params to get a dosing schedule going. This hobby is so vast I guess we're all noobs in some respects.

- I know the Blue Hippo will outgrow the tank and will either upgrade or have him transferred to a LFS larger tank when the time comes

- I don't touch the sandbed at all when doing water changes. My clean up crew keeps it nice and clean, Nassarius snails esp.

- For anyone looking to start a SW tank that thinks it's too daunting, I felt the same way, but I now find it easier than FW. Just be patient and research a ton. Buy quality equipment to start with, get quality live rock as it is your biological filtration. Make sure to cycle your tank! Make sure you are aware of any livestock you are adding in terms of compatibility with your inverts/corals/fish. It's very easy to add a fish, but taking one out can be a headache if your tank is all set already. If you want to keep larger fish, maks sure to have a large enough tank to support its adult size. Be prepared to absolutely spend a good chunk of $ to start out with, because your cheap will come out expensive in the end in this hobby.
