you could do a nice school of chromis, and a few firefish. along with those a lawnmower blenny, and yellow headed jawfish would go well. then you could get some nice shrimp - fire shrimp, coral banded and cleaner shrimp - 2 of each would look really nice, and be just fine with the other fish in a 55.

i like black and white volitans as my fav lion fish (wont fit you 55) and second fav is the fuzzy dwarf...will fit you 55

Leave the tangs out unless you're planning to get a bigger tank. In the long run there are no tangs that do well in something as small as a 55 due to adult size and the pyscological strain of living in such cramped quarters. As far as waste load a decent sized tang is just as much as a strain on the filters as a lionfish.
