Hey y'all, upgrading my oscars 55gal tank to a 125. Hes still under 3 in now, but want to get him into a Mcmansion. Currently have an aqueon 75 hob fileter and a cascade 1200. Do you think this will be adequate filtration for the 125 or should i get more? I am open to getting another filter if need be. (Not looking to drill and sump the tank, not quite that advanced in the aquarium world yet.) however, if i do need an aditional canister filter can i rum them in series, or do i need a pick up and discharge for each unit? Thanks for the info everyone.
P.s. ive been lurking on this site for a while, I've learned a ton, just not sure what i should do with my tank. Figured I'd pool the experts! :)

Thats fine for filtration and you can even just run nothing but a sponge filter! 1 fish in a 125 gallon is little bio load so you should be fine. Oscars make tons of waste but its just one guy or girl.

Thanks! I just want my buddy (named him Fredrick) to have the best. The fella at the LFS said a 55 was fine but everyone on the forums say 75+. Hence the upgrade. I'm just worried that I'll be under filtered. If the 125 is big enough to fit another fish? What would y'all recomend?

So,how do y'all that run multiple canisters do it? Run in series or each separate? I'm Going to run what i have for now, but if i add more bio load from additional fish (thinking sds or maybe a sucker of some kind.)?

I would probably say something that stays at the bottom most of the time. Do you like polypterus?

Yeah, cool fish! But wont it be too large in only a 125?

It depends on the species lower jaws are the largest group, upper jaws smallest group with the exception of a couple like the Ornate Bichir. Look into the lower jaw ones , and see what you like.:)

No foolin'! This whole fish thing is way more in-depth than i thought. Nitrates nitriates amonia all 0. Ph 7.5. All the crazy species, im hooked! (No pun intended) :)
