55gallon Stocking idea

ya, i hav 3 clowns and a few guppys in ther as well, im not big on water changes so i dont like having too many
I feel 5x Silver Dollars would be a bit much for a 55gal as they do get large. I would look into another type of larger Tetra like Buenos Aires Tetras, Congo Tetras, or even Colombian Tetras. Those all should work well as dithers.
I also liked the idea of a pair of Salvini, they are a beautiful medium sized cichlid.

It could be just my fish, but I've always found dempseys to be a little more aggressive than terrors. You might want to go with the dempsey then, for less boredom. You can even get an electric blue dempsey, which will certainly brighten things up in the tank.
Of course if you're concerned about a lack of activity/fun in the tank, have you maybe considered replacing some or all of the dollars with something more oddball?

some jds a5e more aggressive than some GT. some GT are more aggressive than sopme JD. depends on the induvidiel fish.
