Sliders need a basking sight. Ever seen them in the wild? They pile up on logs and bask for hours at a time. Not allowing them any place to dry off might encourage fungus.
there is a basking area that is why there is a heat lamp/light it is above tank basking area you just cant see it because its made of glass and the light is going woooooooh all over it. here is the basking area. i use to have rocks on there but he kicks them all off.

Nice. I saw your pic of the basking platform in my thread, gonna do something like that when I do the big turtle tank. I'm worried about the plexi that I planned to use though, cuz they'll scratch it all to hell...was thinking maybe glass.
And yeah you'll probably lose the little fish...channel cat might grow quick enough to keep pace though. Good luck.
