55galon RES

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hmm that I didn't know...I will probably try glass, since it'll just be the frame around my basking platform it won't have to be that thick. I was actually thinking of just having the basking spot along the back of the tank with wood back & side walls & an open front...but even if they don't get out they'll be splashing water all over.

Oh good, I feel much better about your set up now.
Yeah you really have no idea that it's there in your top pic.

On a side note, when your turtle gets bigger you might not have any fish left.

well that turtle is growing VERY slowly, due to for 2years that it was living in a 2 1/2galon fish tank filled half way, no light or basking area, eating on baby turtle pellets only! ive had it since early december and have noticed very little growth at all, and he eats like a pig on a varied diet.

plexi glass dont absorb moisture, but it can warp if its the incorrect thickness, i think hes ok.

I have to disagree. Plexi glass is a hygroscopic plastic which means it can absorb water from the air or other source.:D

There are different types of plexi glass. The high grade composite is called acrylic . I know that the crappy stuff you pick up at Lowe's is hygroscopic plexiglass. It warps very quickly if it doesn't get proper ventilation. I made the mistake of making a fishtank hood out of it. Bad idea.
