I never said I was getting a wild pair of umbees.

As for aggression , every fish is different just like people. I know dovii and umbees are considered to be in the highest aggression catagory. I was hoping I would get lucky and have a milder mannered fish. He seemed fine for a while then changed.

He wants to spawn and thats probably what led to him being much more aggressive. I have no interest in spawning umbees so getting a female umbee is out. It would also be ashame to not spawn him so I would rather let someone else keep the legacy going.

As for getting umbees or dovii's ?

Your dovii profile photo and a photo of The General is a good explanation as to why anyone would want these fish.

I hear ya, I thought you did say you were getting a wild pair.....oh well it's set up so you can't go back and look at your old post. Also I agree fish temperaments will vary some but to state just like people.....well that's completely two different comparisons. He was fine for a while because he was a juvenile Umbee and just like most central and south american cichlids there "temperament" will change greatly from fry, juveniles and adults. I would just research your choices for fish as there are many great choices for wet pets other then making choices based on photos. Any way good luck with the sell and Umbee are an enjoyable species to keep!

I may get a cichla and an oscar. I will start with small specimans and let them grow together. My bala sharks are 8 inches , plecos are 10 , and senagal is 6. Cichla and oscars are not too aggressive so it should be a cool comunity.

As for people , I have seen many extremes in behavior.

I agree, humans vary greatly for many reasons. Anyway Oscars are always a favorite of mine. I would like to get a wild one someday. I see a huge upgrade in the future for you. Your Umbee is looking good and good luck with the sale.;)

Jeff rapps just got wild orinoco oscars in that are approx. 3 inches if you want wild.

BTW- The dovii in your profile pic has to be the nicest I've seen.

Thanks, yea he has wilds in often. There are other species I want before another Oscar but they aregreat fish to keep.

wow!! Im sorry to hear that your selling him:( but you did a fantastic job growing him out Brett:) and the aggression just picks up as they mature lol. i guess its better to sell at this size then wait till larger. and I wouldnt go below 100$ that guy is a killer umbee bro:headbang2Glws

It is hard selling him and there is a sense of attachment.

He is by far the nicest umbee I have ever seen IN PERSON.

He was pampered and well cared for.

Danny has females for him so he may be happier there.

Sorry I didn t make it today. I went festae crazy at shark aquarium. Figured i get them since they are so hard to get. Bought three males. Hopefully get a female sometime soon.
