K so i want the betta tank to end all betta. I started today with an 11.5" rimless glass cube, im using fluval substrat, with some gorgeous rock from who else but takashi amano(yes he really has couple lines of rock) and it wasnt cheap but i wouldnt expect rocks from japan to b cheap. I got a cool piece of driftwood. So far im working on the baby tear carpet, i have enough water all roots are covered and just the tips of the hc stick out. i hope this is right

I bought prob a 4x4" pad of hc and pulled it into about 8 pieces and spread them out. Im using a dual t5ho over it right npw to get my carpet filled in, but plan to use the ecoxotic nano led arm with 9w total once i fill this tank and im going to add a small filter and the small co2 setup once filled. So am i doing this right?? I alsoadded a reptile under tank heater since i couldnt find the kind you bury. And while buying everything my gf had to buy a pacman frog and hes just chillin for now till the next time we get another tank for him.

Future stock probably some little shrimp n a betta. I want to add some small anubias to the driftwood and something for that upper plateau. Tips and advice and criticizm welcome. 20120215_190141.jpg20120215_190116.jpg20120215_190054.jpg20120215_190037.jpg Leta hear whatcha think!

O I think he is, he's hopping over every inch and I tossed in a minnow for him which he chowed down. Only a temporary tank for him, but until the carpet fills in and I fill it, that's his home

No tips, advice or anything? Don't get me wrong I've read about emerged setups but it's been a while and this is my first real planted tank. Any tips or help are more than welcome. If the water covers the roots but not all the leaves is that ok?

Looking good! I tried planting some HC emerged before...didn't work for me. I think it's because I might've had the water level too high. It was the same as your set up. I also hear that it grows faster when emerged, but when you fill it, it's a good chance the the leaves will melt away. My new set up has some HC, but it's not carpeting like I hoped it would. I hear trimming helps with growth.

Thanks for the advice, i might just fill'er'up especially if i find a betta i like.

If its the same plant i think it is, people in HK grow it like that all the time... Only difference is they cover the top with cellopane to keep humidity levels up inside the tank...

As for the driftwood... Instead of anubias, why not look into some of the nicer mosses that dont grow mad quick and actually look nice...

Btw, love the fact you got ammano rocks... Since i never knew they were in the US... May i ask how much it was coz over here its not cheap nither...

Well i could buy nice rock for 2$ lbs cheaP amano rock lets say b grade was 4.99 and this stiff was 8.99. Wtf are there diamonds or something in it? Naw matchedy background and this isnt rock ue
gonna find in the backyard. Just sidnt realize so many issues with emersed hc.. Ill b bummed if my carpet floata or melts when i fill it. Any really cool mosses ud eeccomend? They wont just take over everything? And if you say java im going to block u lol

Definitely not java moss LOL... I'll have to wait till i next goto the planted shop to find its english name since i only know its Chinese name...

But yeah, it grows extremely slowly, but imo looks pretty good...
