I have had my Ansorgiis for about 3-4weeks and they are in a 50gl grow out tank with 25watt UV and a RenaX3

Yesterday I came home to a stiff Ansorgii. Only his head is able to turn but his body is stiff. He swims but struggles real bad. My 6-7"VATF and other Bichirs (also around the same size) in the tank are all acting normal.

Temp is at a constant 86*
H2o changes are 50% weekly with salt n Prime

I have 2 air stones and a sponge filter just for extra.

They eat market shrimp...

Any reason why he stiffened up?

Thanks

Paralysis due to nutrient defficency? Cause they are only getting one type of food?

Oh dang:cry:... what else do you feed them? I feed the same thing to my Big Congi, big Endli and med Ornate. I also have a bigger Ansorgii (8-9")that I feed the same. Maybe because they are small? or is it just the same food period?
I feed Diced Market shrimp all day.

I guess ill have to do some diggin for more food sources

Here's a link to a sticky that shows you what all you can/ should feed bichirs.

I don't know if it is linked to your bichirs condition, but a balanced diet never hurts, only helps :) . I just took a guess, and I have no evidence that malnutrition is the cause. It seems like it could be a possibility. Nevertheless, more variety in their diet is a good idea. :D

Alright, thanks Blue. I did check that link out. It helps.

As for my Ansorgii, still the same. I added PraziPro hopping it will help (Serg. lfs suck around here. No one has the 2 meds u reccom me). I was told PraziPro is also for internal parasites n totally forgot I had some when I used it with my first Armatus and Goliath.

Hope it works. I noticed his back has a slight hump. Or maybe its just his stomatch that doesnt sit flush to the bottom of the tank (maybe hes hungry : ( ).

Ill keep updates on his progress, thanks guys
