I have been looking for 8 foot tanks, and can't seem to find one thats not a custom tank.

Does any one here have anything good to say about Glasscages.com? I was going to get an 8foot 240 from them until I heard some of the worst stories ever, on a few forums.

Never really been there.

About your 14" fish being alright inside a 6' tank. As long as it can comfortably turn it's body inside the tank it should be fine, that's what you have to worry about.

Thats fine. People put 14" fish (or ones with the potential to get that big) in 4 foot tanks all the time.

What kind of fish is it?

You can try craigslist, but I doubt there will be many tanks of that size on it.

how wide is the tank it should be fine

Glasscages is a crap shoot I think. I had a used tank from them and it was totally fine and sturdy. But have heard those same storys. Although I imagine the storys are a small % of all the tanks they make..

I'd even venture to say 14" fish is fine in a 18in wide tank.. But I'm a bare minimum type of guy..

It completely depends on the species of fish! Id put a 14" common wolf in a shoebox and hed be fine, conversly a 14" ATF needs to be in a 10ft+ tank!

So what kind of fish is it?

Good point..

This is for my Bala's, I know they can get up to 16" but the normal is 10"-14". Right now they swim the whole length of my 4 foot all day long. Off topic but all my fish seem so much happier now that I have moved Pyro my 3" Rainbow shark out of their tank; Pyro was a mean fish chasing all the others.
