6" male grammodes (fruitycake?)

I'd heard that manly angelfish were the rage with all the ladies. Tried it, even bred them. No ladies. No breeding. So I'll stick with my tender little fellow a while longer.

Oh poo. Well then I guess I'll just have to find my own fruitycake. And balance everything out keeping my uber manly angels

Ehhh! Do want! But I like growing them up from babies and I don't want to wait 4..5 years for it to get full grown. My comps are driving me up the wall with their puny 3-4"ness at more than 3 years!!!

I bought him around 3" in late October I think. He's just over 6" now, that's not too bad of a growth rate and I don't power feed by any means. As they max out around 10" he'll be full grown pretty soon...

I think the trouble with growing them out at a reasonable rate is their tendency to grab one piece of food at a time and return to their lair while other fish are still pigging out. Mine have always been "hit and run" eaters -- probably due to their piscivorous nature. If there are no other aggressive eaters in the tank or you can target feed the fish with single pieces of large food (krill, etc.) you will see better growth....... and of course water quality is THE key.

The other fish will eat 5 pellets to my Grammodes' one pellet. He'll eat a pellet and chew on it for a long time while the other fish seem to swallow them whole.

My fish do that to... My Dovii chews his food FOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRREEEEEEEVVVVVEEEEERRRR... That long. Im pretty sure he only eats like 10% of it too haha

BTW!!! Nice Grammodes, was gonna get some myself but got a Dovii instead

Great looking Fruitycake! He's right where he's supposed to be for his size. He's nice and trim like the riverine fish he is.

I can never get over how massive the heads on these fish are!

i ordered one from rapps in 2007 its head was easily 1/3 of its body at 5.5" total length sadly due to a problem with ups he died
