6" payara available locally - thoughts?

There is a local guy selling a 6" sabertooth tetra. I was looking for a tank mate for my ATF, and have always wants one of these guys.

Any ideas on which species this is? I can't see the tail in this pic, but I thought a pro might be able to ID this guy.

Also, how bad of an idea would it be to put this guy with my ATF? They would both be about the same size.

The shape if the spot behind the gills suggests armatus but dint quote me on that as I'm looking at it on my phone. If you could get a pic with the tail it would make it a lot easier

I wasn't sure either; however he did just text back and say it was a Scomb.

scomb. The pics doesn't look armatus to me. The fish seems to have a curved body and no black gill plate. plus it's that cheap. No way it's an armatus.
 
Ok,
So say its definitely a scomb; aside from the sudden fish death syndrome, are there sizable risks with trying to keep this fish with my 5-6" ATF?

Just keep an eye, that scomb may try to take out the ATF. I had to separate a 9" ATF from my 8" scombs because they were taking swipes at him...
