Would adding 2 Aquaclear 110s to my 55 be overkill?

Yeah I think two 110's on a 55 would be over kill. The current in the tank even on the low setting would be too much. Try one on the low setting and when you get the big tank you can just use the seeded filter and add the second Aquaclear.
Ok! Ill just buy one for now. Im excited to get a new 'toy' for my tank. I like the idea of having it seeded and ready for my upgrade!
Hi Seppii! Im so happy for you!. Well i have a group, but from what i've read they are rather shy and like to have a buddy at the least; ideally. I have also read some that have successfully kept them solo. Maybe get a severum (similar look spiecies) as a buddy if you cant find another Uaru? Or just see how yours seems to behave and play it by ear. Sorry I dont have better advice. But you have some options
The solo one you have..how big is it? Is it a baby with spots still? Does he seem to be doing ok eating well? Watching the one you have and monitor the behavior may tell you better if he needs a buddy.
Yes, he is still a baby he is in a 72 with a bunch of barbs at the moment. My 120 has 5 6-11" Severums maybe he would do ok in there when he gets bigger. I think he would do fine as a loner though as he is not very shy. He is always front and center when it comes feeding time and I never see him hiding. He is in a high traffic area so maybe that is good.

Tom, one last question. What is the best way to transition from my Marieland to my Aquaclear? How can I get live bacteria in the new filter? Ideally id like to switch them instantly but im not sure that is a good idea.

You could transfer the media from one to the other or just run both for a week, then take the other out.
Ok. Just to make sure the Aquaclear110 is for 110 gallons correct? Sorry I was reading conflicting info somwhere saying the 110 is the 70 gallons..then they have a Aquaclear 70. I want to make sure i get the right one..the one for 110 gallons?
