6 young Bocourti

This is my Rio Polochic biotope with young fish.

A couple of them shipped in with torn fins. If you closely, the dorsal fin on the largest one has a pretty good tear in it. I got him a month ago and he's already nearly douled in size, but his torn dorsal still looks the same. Do you think it will he'll up or is it gonna stay that way?

I've got a Vieja regani with a dorsal fin like that and, after many months and lots of growth, there is no sign it will improve. I'm getting used to it though, and otherwise he's a nice fish. Still.......

I bought an Argentea at 4" with a dorsal fin like this. It's now 7" and it hasn't grown back at all. He's also missing a mouth shaped bite out of his tail that has never grown back either. He's still a nice fish, but just... flawed a bit. He's also an a-hole that feels every other fish should look the same as him if you catch my drift.

Your tank looks great! I agree that the dorsal fin won't grow back. He'll still look great though when hes an adult Please keep us updated on their growth!

Nice set up, have to say that my bocourti was really outgoing at the begining but now it has became really shy, hope that doesnt happen to yours, by the way i dont think those mayae will last long, i put around 45 platys in with my bocourti, maculicada and aureus and they only lasted for three weeks.

So far so good. I haven't had any deaths yet. BTW, how big is the tank you have your fish in?
