In a small 20 gallon I lost one of 7 mayae due to a juvie black belt attack. So I have removed the other 6 mayae and put them in a a 37 gallon. I'm willing to bet it was the black belt who killed your platies. I read that their natural territories can range up to 10 feet in radius. I had a surplus of mayae and that was the only reason I put them in the 20 with the bb.
