Okay all, I am thinking of something to put in my 60 gallon once all my tanks are up and running properly and the fish are moved to their permanent homes (oscars --> 125, JD's --> 75).

I really enjoy jewel cichlids, discus, severums .. pretty much all cichlids and anything with a lot of colors. The brighter or more colorful the better, or like with jewels, which I REALLY love, sparkly :) Gosh, I'm such a girl.

Anyway, I'm up for pretty much anything. I have considered discus but they are hard to come by around NE. So go crazy ... I just can't figure out what I want to do.

Also, I'm not sure if both of my JD's are going to make it. The smallest one is still very small, maybe .75", and it is pale. It is still eating a little though, but the other one has been picking on it and growing much faster. So I separated the little guy and hopefully he will perk back up. If he doesn't, what on earth can I stock in the 75 gal with the JD?

Thanks in advance for any ideas :) I appreciate the help. I don't want to overstock or mismatch fish and you guys are the best.

UPDATE: The other JD died. No signs of disease whatsoever. He was so tiny and got picked on by the other and may not have gotten enough food or may have been too stressed. Was separated when he started acting different but I suppose it was too late. Normally didn't see him getting picked on much, here and there, but never had damaged fins.

Anyway ... This now opens up more options as I can put the JD in the 60 and have the 75 to stock, or I can put the JD in the 75 with [fill in the blank] and stock the 60.

Anyway, still up for any ideas.

ever tried senegal bichirs before? they are very easy and fun to keep, but I wouldn't mix with cichlid, have a look at the polypterus forum.

i agree with the above, i'v got two and they are really cool fish, mine like to peek through holes in the pot in their tank. cute buggers :)

Well I think I've decided to keep the JD in the 60 ... don't know if any tankmates would fit in there. Maybe an L046 or two would fit? Probably not. Doesn't hurt to ask. I want a couple :)

But the 75... keep the ideas coming. Discus I want, but don't have time for daily water changes to raise juvis (which is how I'd want to do it). Birchirs I'm iffy about, and what goes with them? I really love cichlids but am open to anything !!!!

I love the suggestions so far ... nothing has hit me in the heart yet though.
