60 gallon setup ideas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wouldnt recommend Discus unless you are willing to do the many water changes and the varied diet (takes a lot to care for them, I honestly think my dog is better :))

Are you looking just to have on species or a variety of species?

Agreed ;) I love them a ton. I will probably get some when I am done with grad school and move into a bigger house that my fiance and I are planning to build (with fishtanks built in hopefully :D) ....

I am open to anything right now! I could do a display tank for one fish or have 10 fish I just don't like a lot of schooling fish, such as tetras or neons or danios. Other than that. If it's freshwater, I'm open to it. I love pretty colors though, and would prefer some colorful fish :)

snookn21 has some wild strains of discus for sale. he's a vendor on this forum but u can also try aquabid or simplydiscus, he focuses more on discus over there.

Hmmm. Sorry if this might have been in the OP but are you only considering freshwater? Maybe try a marine tank? There are plenty of color suggestions I could give for marine fish. Its obviously a bit more advanced that freshwater BUT nothing worth having comes free right? ;)

Yeah. I prefer to stick with freshwater. :) I just picked up another O tonight ... so looks like I will be doing the O in the 75 and the JD in the 60, but I still am unsure if I want to add another Jd into the 60 or get something else to go with him.

I would not get another JD in a 60 gal. I heard they can either be really good or really nasty in a 60 gal. I've pretty much heard 55 gal per JD so I wouldn't get anymore unless you plan to upgrade the tank to a bigger size. So the JD might have to stay alone, although I have heard that they have been housed with Plecos & Bala Sharks

I'd go with an african set up, they are tuff to beat for color and ease of care. However, a well planted tank with some angels and a ton of cardinals is a classic and beautiful look.

Let us know what you decide and post pics!!

See that is what I thought ... but people kept telling me I could add a tank mate. Maybe a small pleco?
