I have a 60 gallon tank which has 12 small Geophagus surinamensis, 7 small clown loaches, a single filament barb (all the others died), a headstander, and two plecos. That totals 24 fish but my tank still looks a little empty so I wanna get some more. My problem has always been that every fish I like can't go in a 60 gallon without quickly outgrowing it. And before you say "just get a bigger tank" I can't, so I would like to make do with what I have.

Does anyone have any suggestions for fish I could put in my tank right now? If you're gonna get mad and tell me that I can't put more in my tank or tell me that I'm irresponisble for putting fish in a tank which they will outgrow, can you at least give suggestions for future fish which won't outgrow my tank?. Any and all ideas welcome. Dimensions: 12.75 in L x 48.5 in W x 25 in H

Trade in the geos for orange spotted sunfish, trade in the plecos for few golden bushynose plecos.

depends, there are a lot of Gars in the northern states

Besides cichlids, what else were you interested in? You are already way overstocked - clown loaches grow enormous

But it takes clown loaches 4000 years to get enormous. Anyways, I've always been fascinated by anthng unique or rare. Especially those with interesting body shapes
