hey guys i posted eariler about my 60 hex and i was surprised to say the least when i found out that the gallons of water arent the only thing that matters but the length of the tank as well. so im gonna be giving my green terror and mayan to my friend hes got a 90 gallon tank. i was wondering are there any chiclids that are more suitable to be placed within the 60 hex? im not aware of anything small really except a convict thanks for your help and input

there are a few availible but it depends on what you want. there are cons, honduran red points, rainbow cichlids, kribensis (african) and dwarf cichlids (such as rams and the apistogramma family).
just a few ideas for you to look at but aggressive cichlids are probably gonna be a problem due to their larger sizes and your tank space.

There's some really awesome apisto's you could keep with a school of dithers. And maybe even a small catfish or little bushynose pleco or something.

Rainbow cichlid is my favorite one among dwarf cichlids, ask em to order for u.

the 60g hex sizes i managed to find one google were approx 2x2x2.5ft http://www.thekrib.com/TankHardware/size-chart.html. if so then an FM may be in trouble with a convict in there, FM's flare a lot but generally cant back it up.

balton777's idea is probably about as good as it will get in that size tank with cichlids in a community setting.

At 2' wide and long all the way around, I think even a 6" firemouth or convict will feel cramped. Hexagons just aren't practical for cichlids except maybe dwarfs imho.
