60 hex help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I also agree with Balton's idea for what to keep in a 60 gallon hex.

Any way you could sell the 60 HEX and get yourself a rectangular tank or maybe place a posting to do a straight up trade? This obviously will take some time and effort but I'm sure it will be well worth it especially if you get to house the fishes you wanted to originally keep.

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic, i've seen many 65 hexes in LFS with gold fish. But then again you did say cichlids.

You could do a single angelfish (2 if you have two of the same sex), a harem of apistogramma, a school of cories and some cardinal/rummynose tetras. Tall plants such as vals would make this tank look really nice :)

The two posts above me in my opinion arn't worth reading. Discus will get to big, as will the firemouth.

Remember a fish needs room to move about freely and a fish that'll get to 8" won't be able to swim freely in a tank that size.

Sorry guys i',m trying to flame or be rude.

oh oh!!! okay... just take a second to imagine...... A great mound of rocks, making an intricate network of caves and crevices. The lights are dimmed slightly to give the feeling of being underwater and there is little water current. Okay.... now you have hte setting. Now imagine a whole bunch of lake tanganyikan cichlids swarming the caves, coming out of every little impression in the tank. The beauty of the cichlids who are the essence of evolution and adaptation. Lake Tanganyikan cichlids. Look em up.

Lmao My female firemouth is def a tankbuster... If a 4 inch fish can't live there because it is too big I need to get out of the hobby! I understand about footprint not gallons but with one bottom dwelling fish I think a 60 hex is very spacious
