I am looking for lights for my 150gal. The only 60" light fixtures I can find have lunar lights. Is there any reason to get this with freshwater? Is there anything else anyone would recommend for a 150 that is 60" wide? thanks

I personally like the moonlights. If you are planning on having any nocturnal species it would also help to view them. Also what kind of lights are you looking for T8, T5, PC or something else?

You could also go with two 30" fixtures unless you absolutely want it to be 60". That may help you find your lights a bit easier.

dalbarb make single and double t8 units.

A 4 foot strip would probably work, or you could use 2 smaller ones.

I have a Coralite 4' T5 (I think, it's the thin bulbs) and it doesn't get the edges enough. I have no idea what I want, I will take any suggestions. I don't really know what is out there as far as lighting goes. I was wondering what some of you more experienced fishkeepers would go with. I have no live plants, a Butti, some GTs, some clown loaches and some mbunas (that somehow all get along....for now anyway.) The tank is a 6' wide 150.

So....with the moonlights, there are always lights on, whether its regular or lunar?

Yes but they won't be as bright. They just simulate moonlight on the water and look good IMO.

Do you have a link to these lights you are looking at?

If it is a fish only tank you don't want to go with too much light unless you plan on cleaning glass often or adding some sort of algae eaters due to the algae.
Without the live plants there would be nothing to compete withthe algae for the nutrients in the water.

In my mbuna tank, I like a little bit of algae growth on the rocks because they graze on it from time to time.

30" fixtures have 24" bulbs, plus they would probably be lower wattage bulbs, right?
