600 Gallon All Glass Tank....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm BAAAAACK. I now have the joy of moving this monstrosity. DEP Caulk Remover (Comes in a green tube) works wonders. When I get it to the new house, I'm going to get rid of the floating glass bottom and go with plywood. I'm going to put 4x4 posts at each of the corners, inside and out, to give the glass support. Now, can I use pond armor to seal the wood? OR should I go with another type of epxy?

Just fiberglass the corners or use gel coat. fiberglass is cheaper, but pond Armour would definitely get the job done.

Oh yeah, glad to see your back at it. You need a 7.5' x 5' pieces of glass? I got one of those. LOL

Update....the tank was deconstructed succesfully this fall. No issues at all. I used DEP silicone remover. It worked great, just need to let it sit for a while. SOoooo, I'm now looking at a completely different way to put this together. I want to utilize the plywood bottom, and I thought about making this a 1200 gallon tank by utilizing the bottom area of the stand. But first things first, what type/brand of polyester resin do you trust?

You sir, have some SERIOUS dedication. I really hope your perserverance pays off! You deserve it.

I can't really visualize how you plan on attaching the plywood bottom to the glass side, but it sounds risky to me. Mixing materials is difficult...
