Here is a 600 gallon vat that was set up about one year ago, the substrate is a "dirt" tank with one inch of organic potting soil, red clay and a bit of crushed coral gravel, covered with an inch of laterite gravel. The plants are mostly Crypts and Anubias with a few Tiger Lotus and bunch plants.

The fish are Neon, Turquoise and Bosemanii Rainbows, Denison Barbs, Siamese Algae Eaters and Yoyo Loaches. The filter is a wet/dry (mostly wet) that came with the vat. IMG_2482.jpgIMG_2483.jpg

The vat is insulated with blue styrofoam, the face is framed out and will eventually be covered with bamboo, wood, etc.

nice. does the tank extend past the viewing window?

Yes, it's about 4 x 8' base area and about 30" deep, I think. I wish the window was larger but it wasn't really made for an aquarium, more for displaying fish for market.
