600 gallon new PLATINUM addition

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The quoted post directly above me shows a snow arowana, not a platinum arowana. From what I understand, there is a difference. Snow arowanas have a "matte" finish; they're not shiny. Platinum aro's are basically shiny snow aro's, and vice versa.

You say Tomato...I say Tomatoe...same thing. Leucistic, Snow, Platinum they are all the same just depends what you want to call it. The white just intensifies with age. Mine had a Matte finish while at times depending on angle it was more shiny.

Is it worth thousands of dollars? If you can afford it more power to you. Tell you the truth mine is better of dead than alive because I could not enjoy it =-( I kept worrying about the possibility of it dying and me wasting all that money. Guess my worst nightmare came true. Would I buy another, hell yea..for $29.99.

I know two people who had picked one up for $29.99. Is it rare, well yes. But the possibility of coming up with one at a LFS can happen. Just note the odds are probably like hitting the Lotto..lol

Every time I looked at the one I had the tune of $29.99 kept ringing in my head. Was I a sucker for what I paid..No, I felt I paid for what the fish was worth. Like I said before. If you feel the price you are paying is justified than you should have no guilt.

It is truly a magnificent Aro to have in a tank. Unfortunately people who will never have a chance to see one in person will "NEVER" be able to truly enjoy the Aro for what it is and be able to see the difference. Photos will always depend on Camera used, lighting, etc..etc.. But if you were to see it in person , you would not second guess the difference. The difference can be seen with the naked eye.

Very well said R1, This fish is more shiny white. The best way to see the difference is to look at the top of my fish it is still the color of a regular silver arowana. This particular fish is not completly white on the top basicly same as RTG not crossing over the top and an xback having complete crossing color. I have to be honest this is not a AAA grade platinum at all but I do not care either way it is just about impossible to get one this size here on the east coast and I dont know of anyone who even has one at all. I am very happy with the fish it is a SHOW STOPPER ha.
