600 gallon stock

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't know about the growth rate for some of those fish but if they all grow around the same rate, you're gonna be like one of those people that has a 55 full of big cichlids lol

Well i figured majority of the 7 bass would hit 12 within the year and slow down

The 5 widebars have grown about 1-1.5 inches in the last 8 months

Tinfoils and bichirs will prob slow down close to 12 inches

Gar and clown knife prob slow down after 12-15 inches as well

Fire eel growth rate will be slow since hes 14

The marbles wont grow much more

Silver arow, ripsaw catfish will prob get to 2 feet easy then slow down

These are just my guesses lol

I think the fire eel will probably surprise you with its growth rate. They tend to grow slower when they are smaller and speed up when they hit the 10-14" range, from the research I have done. Depending on how well you feed it, I can see it easily pushing 24"+ within the next year to year and a half.

As for the rest of the stocking and how long the 600 will last before being too crowded, I cannot say. My suggestion would be to start saving now and plan on adding another large tank, even just a second 600, down the road so that you can split them up and reduce the crowding. Or, you can hang on to them as long as you can and then start selling some of them off when the time comes.

On a side note, how big was the fire eel when you got it and what size tank is it in now?

With a 600, 270, 80, 75, 55.....im done.. setting up another 600 would be suicidal..if anything it would make more sense to get a 1000 gallon or so and sell the 600 rather then run 2 600 gallon tanks .....ill rehome a few down the line

I completely understand. For some people that seems like no big deal and for others like you and I it would be way too much. It probably would work out better for you to get a larger tank down the line. I just hope to get into the 600-1000 gallon range at some point in my life. Lol. My wife hasn't fully come around to the aquarium hobby yet. She is more indifferent about it but she also doesn't like to spend much money on anything, including aquariums. I haven't told her how over budget I already am on setting up my 220, and it's not even finished yet. Lol
