I think you need to cut these standpipes down a bit to lower the Water in your overflow
I think the only way to end up with less water in your sump during a power outage
If I make them lower it will put more water in the sump because it will keep the siphon until the water drops below the hole I drilled my over flow box is about 20 gallon just by itself. That's is a great idea I was thinking of how to do that what something that is fish safe.To increase the water level in the tank without increasing the pump flow. you need to block off a portion of the teeth opening. I used universal body panel retainers to block them off in my tank. Its the cheapest way to raise the water level in your tank. You'll need to find the size that will fit snug for your gaps
