its pumping out the same output of water as it was when it was under my 180 gallon. not sure if im wrecking it, but so long as the impeler works i dont see any problems.

these guys really surprize me. Everyone always brags about their dovii/umbie/every other cichlid aggression, but no one ever mentions the cubans. Both male and female, breeding or not, nothing has ever made these fish swim away from another fish. they occupy 4'x4' section of the bottom half of the tank. my umbie is thicker and 4-5" longer, and he is chased away. The title of this thread does not apply to these cubans.

I would love to have some gravel or sand, but that would mean gravel vac with water changes and I dont think I have the time. Maybe i'll put some in there when my kid moves out and my wife passes on.
(my kid is 6 months, wife is 29 )

dude, sand is E-Z; just put powerjets down low and you will never vacuum poop again.
