nice tank, can i ask what filtration you have on that beast.

Filtration is a sump..around the 125 gallon..full of scrubbies and matrix. I also have an FX5 and another larger canister for mech filtration...40% water changes every week.

Nice Steve, I miss pics of this tank!
Still a dat or two in there ;)

Still got 2 dats in there bro...I took the other smaller guys out incase the tems eyed them up...they are now in a 180 where they will get way more food now and hopefully grow faster. Looking back on it I probably should have done this in the first place to grow them faster.

wow... nice!!! why use anesthetic?

So much easier than catching these guys out with a net...they went pschyo..they could have done some major damage to themselves. They are now in my tank with barely a scratch on them

to the people wondering why you would use anesthetic- its rather tough to hold on to a pissed off 2'+ fish when you dont use anesthetic ;)
 We also took the chance to vent them to see if there were any females in the group.

Very good call on the anesthetic. Large Cichla will knock themselves out against the glass when trying to flee from a net. Likewise, LG cichla tend to go into shock more frequently.

Exactly right...they were transported home in fresh water but were very calm. When I got them out and put them into my tank they were instantly fine again.

It is always worrying knocking out your fish and seeing them in this state...but if you know what you are doing...which the previous owner certainly did..it is a much easier way to move large cichla.
