Yea, atleast a 100 gallon wet/dry.

A great way to play it safe is to do
LxW of the tank, and 4", what-ever gallonage is, get a sump that size

So you'd use a calculator and type in

8'x4'x4" would be 80 gallons, so if the main tank drained 4" at a power outage, you'd fill a sump up with 80 gallons of water. If ya figure your sump will have water in it already, so you'll want 100-130 gallons of sump space. Or something like that.

There are 7.5 gallons in a cubic foot. To finish the above calculation, multiply the answer (80 cubic feet) by 7.5 and that will give you the total gallons.

No worries, I'm lazy (and stupid) and used a tank calculator.

I should also mention the piping will house a decent amount of water, so always oversize your wet/dry!

I would go 8x4x30" which is the same size as mine.

I would much rather a 4ft wide tank instead of a longer 3ft wide tank.

When you look at 4ft wide tank side on...its badass.

nothing wrong with barebottom, but i would definatley put some driftwood, and a few rocks, its not tough to decorate, copy steve89, same size tank. Florida has the coolest driftwood out there with the mangrove roots.

Make your sump at the very least 1/3 the volume of your tank. I have been told this is the best way to ensure not having a flood with your tank. So if your tank is 600 then the sump should be able to hold, 200 gallons. Its better to be safe on that. Besides the larger your sump the better the filtration.
