63 percent could not find Iraq on the map!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Personally I find it sad that some of you don't know or care where it is. It's a whole different story when you're over there. I've been to both Baghdad and Afghanistan and I know USMCtanker has also been to Baghdad. These people are dying over there to protect your freedom. Your freedom to "not care". Pick up a map sometime. It's the least you can do. Just my $.02

“For those who have fought for it, freedom has a taste the protected will never know.”

I care and I care about the troops fighting there now, don't think because I'm making fun of idiots who can't find it on a map that I don't care! As far as fighting for my freedom, yes they are suppose to protect the freedom that was endowed upon me by my creator. In Iraq though!? I care not one bit for the polaticians who have sent those young men and women to die in a country that doesn't care one bit if they do. A country that did not ask us to liberate it, a country that has NO link to the attacks of 9/11 (unlike Saudi Arabia our "friends" pfft.) I'm sorry the political leadership of this country has missed the point! Do not tell me I do not care about those in the armed forces though! I lived in the region and I know where it is, and yes I care.

Side tracking a bit here but...,
I object to "war-time" infringements on civil liberties (which I served to protect) in what is a war in name only. A "war" cannot be waged on a loose group of criminals, only anti-crime measures can be performed. A "war" requires a defined enemy that maintains a government of it's own. Calling a series of anti-terrorist acts a "War" does not make it true. If it does we now have several other unsuccessful "wars" going on as well, all declared by various political entities, the "War on Crime", the "War on Poverty", the "War on Drugs", and the "War on Illiteracy". The only real war we are fighting right now is the one our illustrious president has already declared we won, Iraq.

Amen, as soon as it was declared as a "War on Terror" I knew a continuos attack on our civil liberties and free thought would be the things attacked.

Because unfortunately that's part of their job. When we took that oath we swore to be willing to pay the ultimate price to protect our freedom.

Still trying to gage what you mean by our freedom? If you mean we as Americans, we do not have a patent on freedom. We however have recognized that freedom is granted onto all by god and have formed a government to uphold those freedoms. Yes it is unfortunate it's their jobs to take orders from men bought and sold by giant corporations, who will send them to die in foriegn lands under the guise of defending freedom (i.e. business interests)

really as an outsider from america jr, me and my buds totally recognize and appreciate what the troops on the frontline are doing for you all.

its just none of us can figure out why afghanistan wasnt settled first. greed maybe?

mmmm beavers.

Hey Filthy, consecutive posts that close together can be joined by using the edit feature, or did you do that so you could get the quotes? I think there is a way to do that to but I am pretty lame when it comes to computer skills so haven't figured that one out yet.

Back to one of the main points of this thread,
Have you ever watched a segment called "Jay Walking" on the Tonight Show? Leno stops people on the street or on a college campus and asksthem simple questions then shows the results on his show. Once one of the questions was what other COUNTRIES share a border with the USA, among other answers were France, England, and ALASKA (which is apparently a country now), Several people thought that Canada was a state.

Some how I think that there is a problem in the educational system.

well guppy, to be fair, they don't show everybody that Leno interviews. THe people that answer france, etc, are hopefully the vast minority of the incredibly stupid people in this country, thats what i like to lthink atleast

Oh yeah, I agree, It would not be funny other wise but some people! They had a teacher for third grade children who thought that the The American revolution was fought between America and France.
