650 gallon plywood build

That's a really good price for 3/4" where I live in CA. When I ordered my 1/2" glass, I called Glasscages.com and it was still going to be more with shipping and I still needed to drive 2 hrs to pick it up at their delivery spot in CA. I called a local glass shop who ordered it from a larger glass company near Fresno. The local company delivered right to my door when it came in.

In your case, that chunk of glass is going to be heavy! I bet if you worked it out with a local company, showed them pictures of what your building, or having them come for a free estimate or measurement, they would deliver it as well. If you get your sealing area prepped, bet they would even consider helping mount it into place, just because of the cool factor!!!

This is a good point. I know that when i had a job moving furniture a little extra "incentive"($$$) would make all the difference in me dropping it on the curb like the invoice said or taking it up three flights of stairs, through a narrow bendy corridor, even assembling whatever it was.

Goals! Thanks for the post. I've been thinking heavily on trying my hand at one of these. I'm looking shorter and wider as I was thinking of using 125 or 150 for donor glass. I couldn't find any reasonable prices on the big slabs.

Goals! Thanks for the post. I've been thinking heavily on trying my hand at one of these. I'm looking shorter and wider as I was thinking of using 125 or 150 for donor glass. I couldn't find any reasonable prices on the big slabs.

You can try to find a decent 240g tank which will have the 1/2 glass you could use.

I’m going to watch this thread because I’m interested into getting a larger tank one day, and plywood builds seem to be a good idea, but takes time. Can’t wait to see your tank complete.

Alright here is a small update, filtration and plumbing was started and glass installed, i am plumbing everything directly to the sink for a drip system as well as fast drain of the tank for WC.
I used small dots of silicone that are made for sound dampening on cabinet doors as spacers for the silicone.

Can you maybe give a bit of a breakdown of your plumbing? The pipe leading across the front of the tank, is that part of an ato/ drip system? This looks amazing. Can’t wait to see it up and running.

Have you done anything like this previously? Looks like you have some sort of experience with this type of build. Cool idea about the dots, I always wondered what would happen with heavy glass being silicones together.
