6Feet tank requirement fishs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Size matters, even with fish.
If a little is good, a whole lot is better.
Length, width, or depth, your choice.
Just get as long, wide, and deep as you can. :headbang2

okay, but now you are comparing apples to oranges.

the 6 foot by 3 foot cube has a lot more volume than the 8x2 volume.

the tanks we are talking about have almost the same volume:)

True but you can still get more seperation in the long tank, more seperation lessens chance of aggression.

It would be hard to talk room size as a volume you would need 3 demensions. But is square footage the 6x3 is 18sqft and the 8x2 is 16sqft. Not alot of difference.

Also we were just talking apples your the one that brought up oranges:D

I like both apples and oranges. :) :)

Me personally I would rather go with the 72x18x20 (125) then 48x24x24 (120) since its going to be cheaper first and a longer tank always looks better and it may be just 5 more gallons but bigger is always better here. And lighting will not be more expensive you can use a 48 inch light no problem.

I would go for the 125, it will look more appealling and I find two large fish in a 4'x2'x2' look more crampted then in a 6'x18"x20". Besides the 6' tank will probably be more useful in the future if you get different fish for the tank.

I thought he said space-wise the 6' tank wasn't doable.

But since we're talking 4x2 vs. 6x1.5, tank space wise the 6' tank would be better. I just read 6x1 in the first post & ran with it...

I like the 120 better. And yes that would hold those fish fine. Believe it or not the 4'x2' gives you more options on fish. And it works better if you want to grow out large fish like aros and such. But I think the jags would be more comfortable in the 120. BTW they do have 6'x12" tanks. They are 75 gallons and they are like 72"x12"x13" or something like that.
