Just wondering if a 5' or 6' diameter pond is large enough for a motoro or two?
Say, two females together? Pond is about 11-12'' deep
Would be filtered by a canister + W/D sump.

Three years is good, but What diameter would I need to house one, possibly two motoro's for life?

The 6ft diameter pond is about 265 gallons I believe.

Also, why I dont want to get a pair of rays, is because I really dont want to breed rays.
Not saying it would happen, but if it did I would have no were for baby rays to go.
I could get another 6ft diameter pond, but I really just want to keep rays to keep rays.
Not to breed or profit.

Well...
It could hold one for a good long time correct?
I'm probably going to start with one male, and maybe later in the year get a female.
Once they do get big, I've got a good idea of who would take them of my hands.
A friend of mine who is "local" is going to be starting a ray breeding project soon...

A 6' pond is fine for a pair of motoros for life. Motoros can get big, but most females stay under 20" and most males under 16". There are exceptions, but not enough to matter. I have 9 adult motoro females, ranging in size from 13" to 22" and age from 1.5 years to 7+ years. I've got 4 adult males ranging in size from 12" to 16" and age from 3 years to 5+ years. This gives you a good idea on what size to expect them to get. I've seen some massive motoros (24" plus), but they are not common.

Hope this helps

That helps alot!
Like you said, 24'' plus is not common, but if this does infact happen I have a good idea of were they could go.

And, even if they did get to 24'' it would take quite a long time.
So... I guess I'm gonna go for it.
It'll be a while though. Going to purchase the pond, make a W/D, then once its cycled probably get a male motoro.

Thanks everyone.

get the female first if you are ever going to get a female

up here the 6' diameter stock tanks are 350gal.
I currently house 3 motoro (1male, 2female) in this with no problems.
The walls are thick enough to drill and install bulkheads for DIY filtration or stock add-ons.
I used 13 cinder blocks evenly spaced underneath the tank to raise it off my basement flooring.
