There are lots of really good ideas here. One of the main challenges you will face is compatibility with each other.

all of the fish and even the frt can work together for a time frame. Lots of people can make these combos work, but a big part plays into individual fish or turtles. I have seen some frt work really well with rays and other more sensitive items on your list. But then I have also seen frt’s that destroy any other fish in their tanks even including large armoured plecos which are tanks.

I think you are better off keeping the frt out of the mix for the same reasons already mentioned.

wether or not you decide to keep it pure or mix continents is up to you, but I would encourage you to find a happy medium based on the requirements / tolerance of those particular fish. Ie what are the temp requirements, ph etc.

your best bet is to collect some of the fish you want to put into the mix, or even all of them as they are young, and see who works in the balance of life in the tank, then remove or add them while they are still young so they are less lethal to each other. Just keep in mind as they grow and the tank starts getting smaller to them their aggression levels will often increase.

Yes I plan to buy them small if I can, keep them in the 170gallon and then within 6 months maximum I will upgrade depending on tank lead times etc. I think I will keep the fly River turtle out of the mix for sure. I think its just over complicating and risking things anyway. Not to mention how expensive they are lol. I'll make sure to start a tank thread once I get things going. Havnt decided on filtration yet either buy I like a bit of DIY so I'm thinking of building a custom made internal filter but havnt fully decided yet. Do you or anyone else know if the dorado catfish and tigrinus can be mixed as they are from the same family? Or is this just trial and error?

yea there is a variety of fish you can put in a 170 gallon

okay rules that one out then ?, I’ll have to just build up the collection slowly. Start with the main key fish I would like and then build around that I guess.
