hey guys
i was wondering what kind of corals i can keep in a 6g nano?
its 18w, i havent bought it yet.
but i was going to buy the little nano protien skimmer
and i have extra pumps i can use
also would 2 percula clowns be fine in there?
i also wanted some urchins mabey a dozen blue leg hermits and such
and mabey a bubble anemone?
too much for such a small tank?

Clowns need about 10g each so it would be pretty cramped with all your other critters and live rock. If you can afford a bigger tank get it, it will be a lot more stable. Bigger nano's tend to have higher powered lights too. which would be a good idea if you intend to keep corals. I'm not sure what corals you would be able to keep. Lower light stuff, I think mushrooms, some polyps and zoas, but do your research first. Corals should only be added to a mature tank though, so it will give you pleanty of time to plan and do research. But if your lucky, you may find some on your live rock. There's nothin like free coral

A couple of shrimp is all I'd do in a 6g.

its not that i cant afford a bigger tank its just i like the 6g nanos and my friends giving me one with everything for 120 with a damsel some rock sand a buncha salt and a good hydrometer. im also getting a 20g salt so mabey i will just grow out some frags in the 6g. its been established for a while now

$120 for a 6g nano??? Not big enough to keep a damselfish in (or much else, for that matter).

$120 finnex 9 gallon deco :D look at it

the tom deco pico tank series maxes out at like $70 for a 3 gallon
JBJ also makes a pico line well worth looking into

is this realy too expensive?
im also getting a hydrometer.
what seems like 5 pounds of live rock
live sand.
a damsel
the tank and salt mix worth about 35 gallons left
but are theyre any good sites with these tanks for cheap?

if i work in £'s as by the time anything in the uk has the taxes added its basically 1-1 against the $

i got my LR for £5 per Kg, so £10 for just under 4.5lbs of rock
sand (not live but it becomes live soon enough), £3 for 15kg
damsel fish, usually run about £6-£8
salt mix, £15 for 100l worth
hydrometer, £5 with P+P from ebay
i was thinking of getting a WaveBox Cubo a while back (about 7g i think) with 18w PC solaris clip on light and HOB filter, £45

so all together £80 for a slightly bigger new tank. the lights are £20 each. so double the wattage is £100

wavebox also make a 10g version for £10 extra. so £110 for a 10g marine setup with better lights.

or you could put yourself a tank together. i set up a native marine tank for less than £50. including livestock and decor.
