the proper way to measure a fish is to compress the tail to and measure from the farthest point on their fins to the tip of the mouth!! I don't see why people can't fathom this. Honestly go fishing read a regulations book for fishing. Unless their is a standardized way to measure "tropical" non sporting fish that I don't know about. Just because some idiot measures fish without the tail does not mean that is the way you are supposed to do it. IMO this fish is accurately measured:headbang2

There's more than one way to measure a fish.

There's no right or wrong way, there's different ways. To avoid confusion measurements of fish length would be best followed by SL, FL, TL to indicate which method was used.

We're obviously looking at the same picture and coming to two different objective conclusions, even if we're using the same measurement method.

only measurement that really stays the same and really counts is $100.

vey true Karma. And as for the different ways of measuring when is the last time you have had somebody ask you what the fork length of your fish is. I think it is generally assumed or at least should be that total length of the fish is what is being stated and asked unless specified. the way to legally measure a fish as stated by the Department of Natural Resources is Total Length. So I'm thinking that is the way to go. I could measure from the mouth to the anus and call it BUTT length but the doesn't mean people would know wth I'm talkin about :P So calling somebody out for not stating Total Length is ridiculous and immature and just seems like you wanted to start an argumentative thread.

Also you can see that the fish is not flat and is curved

it really must be difficult living your life? the world is full of slight imperfections...... one can get caught up noticing them all or you can just accept certain things..... in the past 16yrs in the fish biz...... i come to accept the fact that all suppliers exagerate sizes...... .5" give n take....... its not like someone is trying to pull a fast one..... that is just how it is...... we are dealing with nature.... not all fish are created equal...... i got a shipment of 12" cl several months ago...... they were barely 8" but really stocky..... some looked "short bodied"...... did i complain? NO i was just happy to beable to get such a nice specimin.......

Are there any loaches available? I don't give a sh$t about what the exact size is, those are some pretty damn nice loaches and they are hard to find at a decent size...
