I had a quote today from aw aquatics for a 7x3x2 10mm glass they wanted £455 this does not include delivery or drilling or sliders. Seems cheap enough to buy instead of the hassle of building in my opinion

I got quote too..for same size aquarium with 12mm glass, custom lid and they assemble it right at my place for 1200€ (~1030£ )

How come you chose 10mm only?

those both seem cheap enough if any of you get these tanks you need to post a thread on it!

Honestly, I'm still looking at glass as well but the reason for considering a plywood build is practice for larger tanks if that makes sense.

bud i think you're doing the right thing !! if you can crack the diy ply wood thing then you can go big ....realy big .im a spineless rat and would never trust my own diy skills hence the why i spent £1400 around 7 yrs ago geting a big'ish tank made for me ! for me i can never go bigger as i wont trust my own ability .but if you get this right you will learn and go far.........think yoda once said that ....lol

Makes perfect sense to me, to be fair if I'm ever in the position of having a garage or basement etc.. Where failures on a plywood would be minimal damage I would start building one tomorrow.

that's exactly what I was hoping haha. I was told by someone who lives in my local area that plywood tanks are sure to leak. I was skeptical and apparently for good reason

ok, it's decided, I'm doing a plywood build tank. its like 2:06am uk time so I'm going to go sleep. tomorrow, im going to draw the plans for stand, tank and filter systems and so the build itself can begin soon
