I'm sure you could find some way to mount it above the tank, or suspend it from the hood or ceiling.

I have the 3rd gen models. The 36" is the hi lumen 90 and 48" is hi lumen 120. Mine sit ontop of my glass tops.

What sort of lifespan do they have, how long have you been using them?
I just bought a couple of cheap[ish] 30W LED floodlights for a quick and simple set up for my new tank, eventually I'll upgrade it to something like that, or my own custom DIY set up.

Not sure yet! Tor-erik used something similar on his 1200g tank, and a few other people have used them before. I guess I'll find out in a few weeks...
Sorry about the slight hijack but, anybody have or tried those aqueon LED modular lights? I too am looking for lights on new setups and since these are pretty reasonable, I'm thinking of getting these.
I haven't seen these. what kind of price,?
