700 + Aquarium Build

Worked on the overflow pipes. They're directed to the setling tank now, but I still have to do the downwards piping(don't want to disturb my discus). This is to ensure that water will be comming in at the bottom of the tank, better chance of dirt not overflowing with the water.

There were miscalculations in my overflow holes. Design flaws. I could have made it more efficient and not too complicated piping routes. The main concept of my overflow is to have a water displacement between the overflow chamber and the tank water level. MY tank water level should be higher than the water level in the overflow chamber. This will give more water pressure in the overflow chamber giving it more lifting power. I am expecting about only 1" -2" water displacement now that I have downgraded my GPH to only 2,500.

very nice get that filter setup and add some fish.i envy your tank:drool:

Also worked on my return valves. I built a manifold of somekind for the overflow valves. This way I can control and direct my water returns. The bottom returns are devided into quadrants so I can have as much as 2 - 3600 GPH pumped into 1/4 bottom of the tank (that's not considering the losses of course).

I placed my manifold valves on top to so that I can get the most GPH out of my water pump. my pump uses only 1" pipe, so I want to use 1" pipe all the way up, once it reaches the top, pipe size doesn't matter any more.

There are 5 returns, 4 to the bottom and 1 on top. I will probably try first returning my water at 80% on top and 20% distributed at the bottom to have a little bit of a push. Now I won't really know how much is going to where, all will just be assumption. Then I will probably flush it all out at the bottom ones a day or something. See how that works.

Yeah I still have to build my filter media rack and the wall enclosure and the electricals..... I am thinking of adding a sub-panel for my electrical since I am also renovating my basement. or maybe I'll just change my breakers to tandemn ones if I get lazy.
