yes the cost may be greater for a bigger tank, However its just the power-heads, heater, protein skimmer and filtration that will be the most of the cost with some shopping around he can save greatly. If you need sites for bigger equipment let me know.

Clown triggers are great fish, my huma beat mine up and i lost him. My 2 1/2 in huma also started nipping up my 6 in cross hatch. I had 120 lbs live rock in a 180 and the huma wanted it all. End result- Huma went back to the fish store Good Luck Triggers are amazing!!!!

I hope you realize that irregardless of what you DIY you will still be spending a LOT of money to set up a marine tank that large. Maintaining it will also be extremely costly i.e. equipment and chemicals. I really hope you can pull it off and if you do please post pics, but you should realize what you are getting into.

too bad you don't have it up and running or live near Pittsburgh I could give you the huge over 14 inch long porcupine puffer that came to my store I have no room for it but you do lol.

Wow that is a big boy that's for sure...I'm going to start building in mid January... WOO WOO...... Sounds like that Humu was an *** of a fish, I got mine and my foxface from the same tank at the store, and the first 2months we had them the humu was always out and cruising around and the foxface hid in his cave, that is while i was in the room and would wait till I was gone to eat his seaweed...NOT hes like OH YEAH YOU ARE THE FOOD GUY!!! SWEET.... and the Humu doesn't even mess with him.... So i have a question for Mr. Reef...... would it be beneficial to have a calcium reactor on my tank when i get it set up?? or will a kalkwasser drip in my sump work just as well.. As far as Chemicals go im not worried about the $$, i just REALLY like DIY stuff...

if your just having fish only you don't need a calcium reactor or a kalkwasser drip however it wouldn't hurt to use reef crystal's by instant ocean as your salt for when you make your saltwater for your water changes this will add some calcium in there.

thats what i was thinking....i'll look into that salt too i saw something about it on another forum and thought it may be worthwhile

some online stores and local fish stores as well as suppliers will give deals on salt if you order a pallet of them.
