700 Gallon Plywood Tank Build

He used Pond Armor originally which is the epoxy. Pond Coat is the Permadri liquid rubber product that is the US version of Liquid Rubber Zavlar.

TheFishGuy had tons of trouble with Pond Armor when he expanded his big tank. Sounds like the same type of problem. Epoxy is not designed to flex at all.

Pond Coat liquid rubber has 850% elongation capability which means it is gong to stretch to 850% of it's original dimension before it is compromised. That basically means you can take a sledge hammer to the structure, but the pond coat is going to stay strong.'

Both are great products, but only Pond Coat is going to work for you if there's any kind of flex to your tank/pond structure.

when I built mine I used silicone on joints and screwed the ply every 4". coated the entire inside with silicon I rolled on. then used 1/8" acrylic sheets to cover the inside, sealed that then did a foam/concrete background. used 1/2" acrylic on the front. the 1/2" on the front was my problem. I guess 300g of water can make it bow causing it to leak in the corners. it's fixed now and workin fine. P.S. yours is lookin good!!!

Quick update. Going to try to do something different to see if this will work and make these type tanks a little cheaper. Found a site that has Vinyl pond liners. Plan is to template the inside of the tank and cutting the liner to fit. There will be overlapping joints, but sealing should be that bad. I ordered the liner and will update as I progress.
