Hi! I am planning to build a 700G tank which will house about 25 RBP's. I have no experience in building tanks this big (I have made in the past 100g and smaller).

Can anyone here give me some advice about filtration and heating on this type of tank. Also any other suggestions are more than welcome.

Does anyone here used some kind of gas heating system?
Thanks

Keep your eye out for a used water heater for an RV. They are small which makes them perfect for a tank your size. If you have any junk yards near by, see if there are any RV's there. You should be able to get one for around $30.

Thanks a lot. I'll keep you posted as my project develops along the way. Still it will take me some time before I figure everything out.

Chompers --> my english is pretty poor...what do you mean by RV?

I have read that using a sump for a planted tank is a bad idea, why is that? I'd like to plant a few echidonorus in there.

RV is short for Recreational Vehicle. Other words for it are 'motor home' or 'camper'.

By the way, what part of Romania are you from? So far, most everyone I have met from there has been from Bucharest. The only person not from Bucarest was from Sibiu.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm from Cluj-Napoca city, in the North-West region of Romania, also known as Transilvania :))

Seeing the Transilvanian Mountains and the castles there is one of the things on my To-Do list before I die. Maybe I'll come to see your fish tank too :)

You are welcome anytime, a room in my house is free for MFK members. There are are lots of places to visit, full of history but don't expect to see same landscapes as in Dracula movies :))

Sumps = Wet / Dry filter systems are very efficient at taking out most everything out that the plants need. But for just a few plants you should be ok.

Anysize heater will work if you ahve the room for it and insulate the tank well, thermostatic control does the rest.
Free room huh?... How's next Tuesday about 10am? I wish, it's one of the places on my list too! Have you seen the movie 'Van Helsing' ? Hope it's nicer than they portraid it :D .

My english is not always so good either, and it's my native tongue :screwy: . You present yourself very well, Thank You for trying so hard.
