72 gallon stocking

I would say that a 72 is fine for Senegals and if you can get a 20g simp than that should help with the bioload. Thorichthys could work but they prefer to be in groups and that would be too many for a 72 as well as the polys. You could probably do a pair though. If your looking for a wet pet personality then a cool option could be a red wolf fish. Would match the theme of your tank and can be glass bangers. It’s hit or miss wether they allow tank mates but I think bichirs could be fine.

I’m putting in a 20 gallon sump if that helps and if I can’t find any cichlids for the tank then I was thinking of an African predtaory tank. Also polys don’t grow to their normal sizes as they do in the wild so I think a few senegals should be fine with maybe one delhizi. I really want an African leaf fish or ctenopoma but I only saw them for sale once at my lfs.
an African Leaf fish will be fine, as would the African Butterfly fish. I think that'd make a pretty good predatory african tank, and that sump would be helpful, that'll dilute the waste more and give space for biomedia, plants, and provide space to move fish if there are aggression issues.
