I was going to start attempting to take out the scratches in the viewing window, but.. would I be able to take off this sheet, and replace it?

My first step will be to attempt to take out the scratches with novus cleaner, and then if that does not work, I will buff the tank (thankfully my cousin has experience working wtih acrylic)

Acrylic tanks don't come apart like glass tanks. They certainly don't go back together as easy either. You would have to cut the panel off and then finish all of the edges before reassembly. The edges will have to be perfectly straight or you will not get a good bond.

You are better off putting the time into buffing it. You can use a palm sander with a buffing pad to make the job go faster.

I guess I will put away my chisel and hammer.

Thank you Chompers.

replacing can be done but i would say have someone who knows how to work acrylic really well do it. first you have to cut the old piece of acrylic off. then your going to have to smooth out that cut and have it perfectly square all the way around. then you just glue in your new piece. on small tanks it's really easy. but when you are doing big tanks with thick acrylic it's really hard to do and a lot of people won't even touch it... also when re-gluing spend the money and use weld-on 40. it cost a bit more but it won't break that's for sure...

I have a 720 and I FEEL YOUR PAIN!

Mine is pretty scratched up (inside and out) and it will take me quite a bit of time to get it back up to par.

Not all of that is scratches (Thank GOD) but it is a work in progress.

After I get the front and top panel done, I will re-roll the paint on the back and sides and FILL 'ER UP!

I will get my cousin to help me out with attempting to buff it. I also purchased some Novus #1 & #2 - anyone have any experience with this product?

If this product does not work to take out the scratches I will look into sand paper + buffing wheel - any recommendations?

The seams apprear to be strong, though a bit of bubbling can be seen on the outside edge. I was planning on taking Methylene Chloride and squeezing this into the joing with a srynge - good idea?

How did the paint work out on the acrylic?

You could probably pay someone to buff it for quite a bit less than the cost of just purchasing a new piece to put in its place. Not to mention all the works that would go with putting in a new acrylic panel.

I want that tank , and a TSN and some aro's
