Would these fish work together in a 72x18x18 tank? I'm afraid the Oscar and Senegal Bichir are rather non-negotiable... Anyway, here's the list:

Green Severum
Some sort of Vieja sp.
Oscar
Convict Pair
Senegal Bichir
Salvini
Green Terror
Jack Dempsey

could have big problems with the vieja depending on which one, most are way too aggressive .. watch that salvini too, mine is the most aggressive in my 180

:iagree: , but add the Green Terror to the list of probable trouble makers.

Arent salvinis bastards also?

in a six foot tank its possible with out the vieja it could work the thing is you can ither have one big cichlid or a pair or alot of big cichlids the thing to do is to have alot of territorial cichlids togather to make territories to small so thay don't get established most fish you have there are just territorial and will fight because of a thret to there territory but some like the green terror like to start truble but with alot of differnt fish to pick on it shouldn't get out of hand

so i'd say to have heavy filtration and alot of tuff cichlids to break up territories
and add like 3 midas cichlids or another territorial cichlid like that

Well, I decided to ditch the Vieja (I think they're kind of ugly anyway) and get a raphael catfish instead of a green terror. Would this be better? Although it would be cool to have tons of big cichlids.

One of the main problems I'm facing is limited avalibility of fish. For example, the only severums I can get my hands on are about 1 inch long, but the oscar that I have now is about 6 inches. I bought a severum today and put it in a grow out tank, but getting lots of cichlids of generally the same size is going to be tricky. I also picked up a raphael cat and jack dempsey today.
